Matt,

Can you upload that pic to a free hosting service like photobucket so we can get a more detailed pic?

The pic is so small that I don't know if it's going #2 or expelling zooxanthellae.

How long have you had it Matt?
What do you have for filtration and lighting? Tank size?

hi matt ive had the anemone for 4 months i got it for my clown fish (now dead). the tank is 2 years old its my second tank ( 1st one destroyed long story there).
ive only really kept a couple pieces of coral and various fish mainly gobies . in this tank . in there at the moment is one decora fire goby , 1 pair of BCS . the green bta , some elegance coral , torch coral.

My filter is a biomedic powerhead skimmer/filter ,1x400lph internal otto ,filter /powerflo
lighting one 10000k actinic ,one 6000k daylight tubes 18w (which i think my problem is ) . both i run for 8hrs then 1 hour w/ blue!!! ???

no heater in there as its the summer at the moment, room temperature is 24c and the tank is 25c also the room is mainly airconditioned , but w/ usually a half of a degree drop.

i have a fine coral sand ,

15kg of live rock
everything else always looks great but the anemone
the tank is right beside me now and its mouth is protruding about 1cm ,
all the tentacles are out

test results nh3 0 , ph 8.3 , n03 0 , po4 0.1 , no2 0
im thinking seriously of new lighting or just avoiding anemone alltogether .

Yeah I might avoid one for now. I still don't know your tank size but that doesn't seem like much light regardless. Plus you don't have the light on that long. I usually do 10-12 hours a day depending on my light setup.

okay tank size 35 gal (135l) its a cube with at least nearly 2ft of depth, so if i extend the lighting to 12hrs ie both for 12 then moonlight for the rest of the night ? is that what you mean ? (my last anemone was in a smaller tank 65ltr, it did fine . i only lost it because of a stand collapse)

when i first set up the lfs clerk told me not to go mh because of tank size heat etc .. not the only bad advice the dude has given me thats for sure.

if this anemone dies, im avoiding them like the plague , im no murderer ...lol.. maybe just an accomplice..lol....

cheers
matt

I was thinking about 1 hour blue/10 daylight/1 hour blue. Something like that. Just a couple more than you are doing now. That said, I can't really recommend anemones. BTA's are easier than others but you still need to have everything really dialed in. I had good luck early on, then on the next tank I tried again and did not have such luck. They are delicate.
