I don't like it when fish don't eat or are not swimming, those are tough cases and most of the time get flushed. But then again, I have seen starving fish plump back up and I have had fish laying on their sides super sick, get up and start swimming and eating after 24 hours. Shrug. It's up to you on how you want to proceed.
And I still stand by your decision to put the fish in the fuge. One on one feedings without having to mess with other livestock interrupting seems a lot more user friendly to me. It's too bad that it couldn't have been caught sooner so that chances of a decent recovery would be better.
Good luck! |

| I am sorry to inform but at 1315 hours California time, my anthias has passed. I tried to spot feed him and what not but nothing short of electricity would have had him going. He is now with the flushing gods of porclien.. Thank you all for your input and now I know what to do when another fish shows wierd signs. I really appriciate the effort to the ASAP forum and if it wasnt for the 3reef forum inventing the ASAP forum, I may have never got the speedy responses that I was getting.

Good luck! | You ever see a anthias plump back up ? I have owned several hundred of the critters and I have never seen one to ever plump back up.. I see a weak or sick fish I cull it just as nature would do any animal .. Its possible that it is spreading disease and what ever with everything else from its last breath,, Don't y'all get me wrong.. But I have had to eat help butcher and eat animals I had grown from Calves to piglets chicks and took to fairs and even won a few ribbons with when I was a kid.
I don't hate animals (never pulled wings from flies (: or am I mean to animals I knocked a man out one day for hitting the little horse his FAT A$$ was on with a big branch because he was to fat and large for because the animal could not make it up the mountain rail twith him on its back. he was embarssed when he had to dismount and wa lk it up to the crest..
But if you would be just allowing this fish to suffer from your greediness or lack of compassion if you allow a suffering sick animal to linger until it dies a sick and painful death . We all die (: I wish / hope I could be put down rather to be made linger and suffer sick for yrs to die.. Not to mention the humans I have seen die or suffer until death took them in a far off jungle. And even hear some to beg from a buddy for a bullet! No you need to walk a mile in others shoes first.. Animals are just that . Nuff said by me soap box is now open (: _________ Some of the world's greatest feats were accomplished by people not smart enough to know they were impossible (Doug Larson) |

| Sorry to hear about the anthias loss At least you're better informed if you ever try to keep them again but if you do, I would suggest lyretail or bartlett's anthias as they are easier to feed and tend to be less sensitive and more hardy. |

| it is a part of nature, we are born, live, pay taxes, and die. When an animal is suffering alot of people feel it's the right thing to do by putting it out of it's misery. Why allow it to suffer?
I am sorry for the loss. This happens to most of us, sometimes you learn from it, sometimes it's just nature.
Clowns really don't need special care, same with damsels, tangs need lots of swimming room, algae and greens fed often, and some of them are sensitive...like the blue hippo (ich). You don't need to feed inverts like crabs and snails, you have them for a cleaning crew, they get the left overs! _________ 20g

1 hydor koralia
rio nano skimmer FISH: blk/white clown, damsel, yellow watchman goby CORAL: grn open brain, acan, torch, rics, toadstool, zoo's
INVERT:[/u] hermits, nassarius, astrea, turbo's, nerites, crocea clam
