it's not a fancy anthias... it's just your normal store bought anthias. i think you are right but it doesnt have the square on it's side so i believe that would be the male? pretty much all orange with yellow tail and a fade of yelloe along the top and fins

I was feeding 3 cubes of frozen brine a day and people freaked saying it was too much food and my nitrates and nitrates were going to go through the roof if i kept this up now you say to feed him twicw a day.. How do you feed a anthias twice a day with 15 other fish just as hungry in the same tank?

Stop listening to those people Anthias absolutely need to be fed several times a day and brine shrimp and flakes aren't going to cut it. Try to distract the other fish with some flake food before you put in the frozen food for the anthias but switch from brine to mysis or the fish will still be malnourished.

Well you need to have the proper filtration and waste management teams in place and a good skimmer and denitrating coil and PO4 reactors special fish require special equipment.. Like I said when I had a school I had the pump to feed then every two hrs and it shot about 20 mgls of rotifiers and other food in there from a pre mixed bag I had them in . Just like a I.V in a hospital only it was food and not the good stuff (: I have diastolic pumps on hand if I ever get a large enough school of them again. Our lyre-tails eat flakes just fine thought I' m told the Bartlett's also are easy keepers ???

ahhh.. LOL.. OK so in order to feed one fish twice a day I have feed the others a bit of food on the other side of the tank to distract them.. LOL is this some kind of fish whisperer trick because how do you stop the anthius from going over there as well.. I think this anthias will be pushing up daisies before I start being the fish food police. But never the less I still will try to help her. i have her in the sump now and I tossed a cube of brinebut she won't eat anything now, soooo. I think it's just a matter of time before she croaks. and that will be another $40 lesson learned. Most of my tank are damsels, one clown and a blue tang and they don't require special attention.........I think?

My filtration is what is required for a 125 G.. It's all top line coralife skimmers, sumps and pumps, bells and whistles.. i have an awesome lightine coralife 72" 3 halo bulbs with 4x96 actinic lights and 4 led night lights. the sump has a 10K 50/50 bulb and a 20 led night light to replicate the MOOOONNNN. Thes little basterds are living better than me.

Don't worry about the anthias going after the "decoy" food. It'll know what it likes and will spit out anything it doesn't want to eat. Your other fish should be just fine with flakes and don't necessarily need to be fed every day.

I've found that some saltwater fish can take a really long time to die of starvation, anthias and dragonettes in particular.

I think its a waste of time and money to worry about him at this point. But I have been called a Cold SOB before (: I've never seen one comeback Not a square spot anyways . And moving him her it to the fuge just tweaked it even more.. Good luck with it.
