if its a short move some LFS will do it for you the one by me will move your tank. *It may be a little pricey I dont know, but if it saves livestock maybe its worth it?

To do it yourself isn't that hard.
Put all LR in a bucket with tank water, a heater, and a power head
Put all corals into containers with heater, power head and tank water
Place all fish in container with tank water, heater, and Power head.
I would suggest cleaning your sand bed. But would love to hear if anyone has a better idea about the DSB.
Try to keep as much tank water as possible.
Move to the new location and put sand water and LR. You will prob need to wait a day for the water to clear. Run filter floss to clear the water quicker.
once water is clear place LR the way you want it and replace live stock.

That the best I have done. The tricky part is the Sand bed.

One last thing. Make sure you remember any little set up or operational problems that had bugged you that you could not fix with the tank full. Correct them during the move.

Containers with lids and handles so you can lift them with help from another person would be nice. Ask LFS if they have such containers and if can borrow them to move with.

Ok now that I am back doing this for a living here are
some tips:
Make up about 25 gallons of saltwater ahead of time (let's it mix well)
Home depot has 20 gal tubs for less then $3 each, for your 55 get 3 or 4 depending how big sump is.
Cut off all filters and heaters before starting to drain tank.
Drain tank about 1/4 of way into one tub start removing some rock and corals ( I mix rock and corals for short trips separate for long ones).
I use battery powered air pumps for circulation and don't use powerheads for short trips.
If trip is hour or less no need to heat. Just keep houses warm and transport in warm vehicle.
Finish draining tank and remove rest of rock. catch fish and critters.
If trip is less then an hour leave sand in tank with just enough water to cover it.
Buddy lift and carry 55 tank.
carry stand filters and etc...

setting up
place stand and equipment
place tank
Place live rock
start to fill tank add rest of live rock and coral
hook up filters
top off tanks
Fire up heaters and filters
wait for tank to clear a bit
add fish and critters when cleared.

I just moved a 55 like this last week with no deaths and very little clouding. The tubs sat in 40 degree weather in back of Blazer fro 4 1/2 hours. Temp dropped 4 degrees still no deaths.
