Default Lost Pearly Jawfish

Ok, so have not seen our jawfish since Monday. I fed him Sunday evening and figured he had burrowed him somewhere else. I have been checking the tank to no avail. I finally found him in the overflow, he has not eaten since Sunday. I am hoping there is something I can do to get him fattened up...He is still reacting with opening his mouth wide when approached and he seems to have some energy but is swimming aimlessly....Any ideas would be greatly appreciated...

Hey Bax, have you tried live brine shrimp or live blood worms? All fish go crazy for them. If that doesnt work, try soaking the regular food in garlic from Kent Marine. You could also put a couple of drops of Selcon into the tank.

I'm glad you found him alive at least. I've never had much luck spot feeding fish, if you could call it that. I think that if it's only been 4 days without food, he has a terriffic chance of making a full recovery.

IMO, I'd just make sure there are lots of opportunities for him to get what you know he likes to eat. Not necessarily overfeeding the tank, but perhaps feeding smaller amounts of food, more often so he gets to smell/see food often during these few critical days.

Tell him he belongs on the bottom!!

Good luck!!

Well, our little pearly jawfish just passed away. I thought he might have found his burrow but I just noticed him on the bottom of the tank. That little fish brought me so much joy in such a short time...
