They are shocked. Did you acclimatized them properly ?! Is there enough dissolved oxygen in your water?! What is the temp. of your water and do you use a skimmer ?!

Do you have a trustworthy lfs. If you do maybe they can test your water just to see if they could find anything different...

when i received my clowns about a year or two ago they hung out at the top for days fighting. after about a week they began to look around the tank. after i got my anemone they were in it all the time... and they are still there! lol
damn they love that thing...

get a tomato clown for my other tank about 2 weeks ago and he sleeps at the top right next to the overflow box.

Yep, they may just be exhausted from beating each up, deciding which is going to wear the skirt in the family.

Well even though I tested my water and it looked OK I did a partial water change because it was 3 am. Everything seems to be OK this morning I don't know what the deal was. One was stuck to the intake on the filter last night but they are doing fine now. My temp is 78 and everything tested fine last night so I am at a loss. These clowns are a mated pair got them from a really good lfs they sold them to a couple a year ago that bought them back to get a pair of black clowns. So I know they have been together for a while. Thanks for all the responses, still confused what the problem was.

from what I have heard here it sounds like they were sleeping up their , yep just sleeping, you did say that you returned at 3am, and that they are not infact new tankmates. so I would asume that they were sleeping as some clowns have been known to do this even when they have been hosting corals or anemonies.
They might actualy do this more than you think.
