Default Help PLEASE!!!!

Just joined...don't know what to do....My (tiny) blue tang is not doing well.
I found it on it's side this morning, and not hiding under any rock. I isolated her in a seperate tank and observed her. NOT well !! So I got worried and took her to the pet store where there is the really knowlegable guy, he to one look at her and said she looks like she has been beaten up, many scrathes and marks on her sides ( I though these were scrapes that she had given her self when she scraped herself along the rocks.) He suggested I put her bank in with the others but in a small capsule, and wait and see...it has now been 8 hrs and she looks worse.

My other fish are doing well.....I just hope she is not sick and will infect the others.

Any suggestions. Her scales look faded and her colour has gone from the electric blue to a very faded blue/grey... she remains on her side and looks like she is gasping.

Lissa,

Can you provide more info on your system (how long has it been set up, water parameters, etc)?

Is the capsule isolated from the tank, e.g. like a small quarantine?

Question

Thank you all for your response....but sadly she died.

My FISH ONLY tank has been set up since JAN 20.08, and contains:
1 CLEANER SHRIMP
3 GREEN CHROMIS
1 YELLOW TANG
2 CLOWN FISH
2 BI-COLOUR DAMSELS

ALL MY LEVELS ARE CORRECT, PH,NITRATE, AMONIA & SALINITY WHICH I KEEP BETWEEN1.020 AND 1.021

I HAVE NOTICED MY YELLOW TANG LOOKS PALE AND I AM DETECTING AN ONSET OF ICH TODAY...I BELIEVE(ON PECTORAL FINS A BUBLE TYPE RESIDUE) ...I WAS ENCOURAGED TO DO A FRESHWATER BATH AND BRING MY SALINITY DOWN TO 1.018 (WHICH INCLUDES A WATER CHANGE OF 20%).

WHAT ARE YOUR OPINIONS TO THIS..I REALLY NEED HELP AS YOU CAN SEE...IM SICK TO MY STOMACH TONIGHT AND JUST DON'T WANT TO LOOSE ANOTHER.

Your tank may not be fully cycled yet... let alone mature enough to support 2 tangs. Salinity should be 1.023-1.026 max. Tangs are touchy, require everything to be right. The more you do to the fish (especially tangs), the more stressed they are. Freshwater soaks may "kill it with kindness." I hear seaweed with a garlic soak is good.

yeah, blues are a harder tang to keep, their very susceptible to parasitic infections since their a scaleless fish.

having a good cleaner shrimp helps some, but having a matured tank with all the parameters dead on is a necessity for keeping these guys alive and even then they can be a challenge

Also I didn't see the size of your tank anywhere? How many gallons is it?

Sorry about tang.

If water params are all ok after this period of time, expect cycle has completed.

But may not mean your tank can support this many fish this quick. Again, your water params would be letting you know.

I think temp is a bit low.

Tang may have been overstressed or sick on arrival.

Your damsels may have bullied it to death, esp if it was weak or really small, and added after them.

Give tank time mature, then try another.

Good Luck.
