| Wow. 90, eh? Is the lid open?
I agree with acenia (good to see you acenia ) get a fan aim it at the open lid.
90 is crazy high - might call for a ice pack floating in it too. How big is the nano?
MOVE IT TO THE BASEMENT. IT's A NANO. I've done that with a 6 gallon before. |

| nanonewbie, there is a small nano chiller from coolworks. It's an ice probe microchiller that can chill up to 10g by 6-8 degrees. Placing that little guy in the right spot is key to get a use out of it.
It's 104.95 @ marinedepot.com. I would just save for a nice 1/5hp. CoolWorks Ice Probe with Power Supply - Marine Depot - Marine and Reef Aquarium Super Store
$200.00 for a nano chiller is too much. There are 1/5hp chillers for about the same. I'm going through some heat issues too. My tank peaked at 88 today. Freakin' heat! ahahhhhhhhh! My corals still came out though, but I think my anemone is starting to mind. I'm gonna install one more fan tomorrow.

| definitely go with a fan! Evaporative cooling works. You just have to top off your water in your tank. Atleast it will help til you can save for a chiller if that is what you plan on doing. _________ 125gal.w/Mag9.5 return(dual megaflow)>Mag7 pump Aqua Cev180skimmer.Wave2k Hamilton Reefstar(2)250watthqi(mh)pend.a Yellow, Naso Tang Red Lip Blenny Percula Clown Demoiselles Niger Trigger F. 1. Remove the top of your tank
2. Buy a fan and aim it across the top
My tank (120 g) yesterday morning had reached 86* so I did the "fan" thing. By last night (10 hrs later) the temp had fallen to 81* and this morning the thermometer shows 78* and my heater is working. |

  | Pass on the fan, all that is going to do is blow unwanted particals of dust into your tank. Here is what i did and lowered it by 10degrees. mini fridge
Drill two hole one on the bottom side (inlet) one on the top side (return)and run 3.8 tubing coiled up inside about 50feet or so. Hook up a mini pump to it allowing the water to run slowly through the fridge part then up to the ice box area then back out to the tank. very effective and you can still store a six pack of (BEE@) Soda in it or your fish food.

| Cool idea berlin_joe. Allot cheaper than i chiller i can imagine. But nanonewby needed to get the temp down fast. So the fan or the ice pack will do the trick for now and give her time to shop or build whatever she chooses. But a great idea indeed... I might even check it out for myself. Quote: |

| Great ideas. Thank you so much. my tank is 82 this morning with the fan. I like the mini fridge idea, you must like to build stuff. I think this girly girl will just buy the chiller or move it. I am just not that cool. Don't you keep beer in your mini fridge? i thought that was a rule. the nano is 12 gal. My califlower colt coral is retracted. not swollen. Can I do anything for it besides get the temp down? Can I direct feed it some phytoplankton? I am picking up a phos kit today. ph, amm, nitrates and trites and sg are all find. I think I just baked it.

  | It will take a little time to come back out since the heat spike. This is normal.
I like to DIY every now and then.
