Default Goby missing Help!!

I bought an Orange-striped goby on friday and it seemed to take well was swimming here and there went in a cave that was formed using a rock rack, came back out swam some more, saturday morning saw him before i went to work then about 8hrs later came home to nothing, couldn't find him tried dropping shrimp pellets around the rock work to try and see if he was hiding. Still no luck today, don't really want to start moving rock around. i checked overflow chambers,wet/dry filter you name it i checked it but tear the rock work down. Any ideas, should i just wait a few days, i've checked for spikes no luck, this is a new 180g that was setup 8 weeks ago.

Be patient...a 180 gallon is allot of room for a goby to hide out in, if a bit stressed about new environment.

If you have checked all other possibilities...he is probably still in there.

Got hermits? --- If fish is dead, they will find him.

I have a little yellow one in a 10 gallon tank and he disappears once or twice a week where I think something happened to him and then he pops up when I think its all over. So can you imagine one in a 180 holly smokes! He will probably show up when you least expect him to and be just fine. Good luck!

I have a six-line wrasse that I have had for over a year and a half now. Well, the other day I realized that he wasn't coming out to feed as is the case normally. After about three days or so and constant checking on the floor around the tank and in the tank he suddenly reappeared!
I guess that there are times that they will secretly hide, especially upon adding certain fish though that wasn't the case with me.
Maybe that is what will happen to you!

I agree. Gobies are tricky ones. I have a yellow watchman goby, and up until recently (had it in the tank for a year) I would almost never see it. Now its out all the time.

yes i have three glass covers the two on the ends tho have a 3in gap between the edge of the glass cover and the back edge of the tank, also i have a canopy that is just open in the back. i've looked behind the tank no luck so he has to be in the tank somewhere i even turned off all the lights and waited for an hr and then went down with my a dim light to peek in and out of the open parts in the rock no luck will just have to wait and see, like bruce said he ahd one for a yr and didn't see it much so who knows will kepp you updated.

my goby is hiding under a rock.he dammed the entrance so no one can see him.theres a small hole in the rock that uses as an exit.but he spends probably 23 hours a day in there.
