| Flamingo Tongue | just got 2 frags of corals (dont know their names yet). my temperature was reaching 30 degrees celcius. and in fear of the corals dying of heat, i turned the airconditioner, fans, and left the room for about 2 hours. when i came back the water was freezing cold at 20 degrees! and my corals' polyps were lying lifeless, facing downwards. are they dead? | Hammer Head Shark | This is one reason the smaller the tank the harder it is to keep on top of water conditions. I doubt they are dead but probably shocked from the huge temp swing.(I hope) With 21 gallons in your system I'm still surprised the temp dropped that fast in 2 hours. Bring the temp back to 26-27 slowly. _________ 20 Gallon Transfer tank. | Panda Puffer | I think you've gotten good advice so far. The bottom one might be a goniopora as well. In the future it will be easier on your stress levels and wallet if you research the corals you want and their requirements before you buy them. Just because they are in the store doesn't mean they're going to thrive in every tank. |
