| Fish dying I have lost almost all my fish in the period of 2 weeks all I did with the tank were beneficial things. Adding RO salt water from LFS. Adding a better new coralife protien skimmer. Adding a fluval canister filter. Treating my tank with red slime remover and killing an aptasia with jones juice. If anything in there was wrong can some one please give me some factors. The inverts are all fine and my mushrooms and polyps are are fine.

| That is a big bio-load you had in it...how long has your tank been running?
What are your basic water specs reading?
That red slime algae you were treating for was a sign you were starting to have problems.
Am sooo sorry about loss of fish.

| Sorry about that hitman35.
Cyano is a sign that we're not paying as much attention to the maintenance and upkeep of the tank like we're supposed to. My tank developed it as well and in the process of trying to get rid of it I too lost all my stock. So I share your grief.

| Basically the tank would have to re-establish itself again through a cycle just like when you setup the tank. Did you ever test for magnesium or the other main tests to do? Could some metal have fallen into the tank and gown unnoticed? I have also heard of this also happening when people clean the sides of the tank with windex. Just trying to get some creative ideas for you.

| You say you where using R/O saltwater from the LFS to top off the lost to evaporation ? Ihope you meant Fresh R/O water to top off. what was the specific gravity of the tanks water ? _________ Some of the world's greatest feats were accomplished by people not smart enough to know they were impossible (Doug Larson) |

| You had 13 fish in a 55 gallon tank. (!) In my opinion, that was the biggest part of the problem. The wastes from the bioload were the max of what the bacteria in your tank could process. After that, an ammonia spike, constantly high nitrates, and/or an infection and the inhabitants can't stand the stress.
My tank is only 10% smaller than yours, but I have a much smaller bioload. _________ -- SAW39 45 gal modified hex. Started and cycled August 2005.
