| Re: Dr.Macs VS Reefer Madness I've personally seen the Dr Mac corals, you can't go wrong! The SPS colors were amazing, both the frags and the wild "colonies", I've seen a couple of actual tanks in action (not enough yet) and never saw the color he has cooking....and he's just a storefront!
I went to the retail store for liverock, and got the SPS bug as a result of what was available.
Nothing against the other guy referenced here, I love to browse their site....just that I've seen the product first-hand w/Dr Macs stock, husbandry, and obvious dedication to this, alot of time, money, real estate is obviously devoted to this hobby.
Yep, this is a plug |

| Re: Dr.Macs VS Reefer Madness Okay I started this now here is my two cent.
Reefer Madness: Good outlet for the Walter Reed Smith network of Coral Farms in the south Pacific. Largest network of open system coral farm in the world. It never hurts to have a good supplier. They seemed helpful and have good prices. They do only have there corals at RM for a few weeks.
Dr. Macs: Wouldn't be surprised if there stuff came from Walt Smith too but here is were they are different. Dr. Macs is to the best of my knowledge the largest closed system coral farm in the US. They grow out a large portion of out there corals for a good period of time in their greenhouse. Even thought both places sell coral that is Aquacultered I think that the Dr. Macs coral would have the an advantage of being "tank raised".
Frankly I think both places are great. The only beef I have is that they both shoot their photos under 20K lights so the colors seem kinda juiced. |

| Re: Dr.Macs VS Reefer Madness About 2 weeks ago Dr Macs had a special of 12 frags for 120 bucks. I ordered these and they were nice frags. He said that he gets to pick the coral frags that I get. I asked for a few specific corals and he did pick from my prefered list. I did get 3 that were light tan acros. And two that bleached soon after I got them. I also ordered 2 XM 20000k 250 watt mogel halides at the same time. I guess I am happy over all with the order. 10 bucks a frag is awesome and I got some nice ones.....prolly 8 of the 12 are going to be nice someday.
All of the frags were nice size with multiple branches. This is my first shot at the sps corals so wish me luck. It doesnt help that I am cooling my tanks with fans and the first week I had them the temp varied from 76 to 83 degrees. I have found the best arangement for the fans now and the water stays at 77 degrees in both my tanks now. Well between 77 and 80 durring he day. I can live with that I guess. Want to see some pics? I will shoot some later if I get time.
I have never ordered from the other site in the discussion
Jay
Oh yea...Dr Mac is very professional and was very helpfull. He responded to all of my emails the same day or the next with awnsers to my questions.
