Clownfish problems....

I'm having some problems with my Tomato clown... It appears he has come down with Brooklynella or "Clownfish Disease"... Any thoughts on how to treat this? He did eat pretty good yesterday, but did not want anything this morning... From what I've noticed, he has had this for a couple of days... Everyone else in the tank are doing great.

Anyway, I would like to stress the concern of the quality of clownfish that is out in your LFS... This Tomato is my second clown in two months ... previously I had a Maroon that perished due to an ulcer related to internal bacteria and now my new Tomato... Do you feel this may be directly attributed to over breeding in captivity? Or is this a sign of poor conditions in the LFS?

Just trying to vent... getting frustrated!

Valid concern about the LFS if you can rule your tank out.

I haven't heard of this disease. What's it about?

Tomato's are usually pretty hardy. My old roomate had his for nearly 8 years before he shut down his tank.

This is a bacteria that is carried by Clowns and or Damsel fish... an outbreak is similar to that of Ick... It is stress related and typically occurs when fish are shipped in bad water.
Out of habit , I typically introduce new fish to the tank right after a water change and make sure that the levels are perfect. This usually helps keep the stress level down to a minimum and the only thing the new fish has to worry about is his roomates. I think in the case of my Tomato... the stress was elevated by my unyielding Yellow Tang. Although, the typical Tang "ass whooping" only lasted for about a day, it really shouldn't affect the clown this much. This is why I think its LFS related.

ive heard of it and checked into it quite a bit when i first started. actually almost all clownfish are carriers especially if caught from the ocean. its one of those diseases that can lay dormant and you will never see. usally if a clown does break out it will die within 24-48 hours. theres a item called formalen i never used it but its supposed to work for this disease and other parasites. i had some pages booked mark i will list them for you
