Hey Tangster, thanks...It does not look as if the skin was punctured, i think the "pest" was hitchiking but not attached. What, if anything, should I do?

Well with out seeing it ,not positive as to what you have ? It could have been Louse or hookworm or a nematode even a leech and or a host of other parasite.. But it may have dropped of to settle to the bottom to start laying eggs ? Not trying to alarm you but if you could get a photo so it could be seen as to what it is or was for sure to make certain as to how and deal with any of the pest I mentioned above A good treatment for 90% of these type parasites and their eggs is to some of the larger fish and light infestations being one or maybe 3 or 4 then the lice can be picked off with a pair of forceps. Other cases can best be treated with a 10 to 30 minute bath in 10 mg per quart of tank water of potassium permanganate. Or treat the whole tank with 2 mg per liter, but this method is messy and dyes the water But add some carbon and it will pull the yellow looking dye out along with all the DOC's the permangante coagulated ..

I treat our tank every so often with a few ozs of permanganate anyway it just cleans it up a tad found it also will help knock out montipora eating pest also. Its safe to use just don't go overboard with it also its great to burn out different alga's .. Like Byropsis
