They have to settle in and sort it out themselves a Rick all run by adding a clown to any tank with an established clown in it muck like when adding similar tangs together.. If you have run and hide places then it will work out in a day or so.. I lady I know from Richmond has written many books on these fish might want to look one up..She is about the leading expert Hobbyist when it comes to breeding and establishing these fish. Joyce Wilkerson is her name .. Might want to check one of the books out ?

| Hi there just had a Q.
lfs told me it was better to buy three clowns instead of two. The two big ones seems to be together all the time ,and one of them chases the sm. one away and keeps him from feeding with the rest of the fish. Would you try and buy another sm. one to see if it would pair up with him? or do you think that where I only have a 46 gal. I should return him for something else?
The sm. one just kinda hangs out on the other side of the tank by himself. Thanks!! |

| Luna,
Did they see me coming a mile away or what? At 25 bucks each there not cheap! I'll take your advice and return the sm. one . Also when I asked about the black and white ones [sorry don't known the name of them ] she said they can only be sold as a pair. asking price was 50 bucks apiece alittle to high for me . Should you, in your opinion always buy two clowns at a time? |

| Its probably better to get them at the same time, the thing to remember when getting clowns it to buy one that larger than the other. Someone correct me if I am wrong here, as juvies they can become either sex, and small male ones can become larger females, however it can not go from large female back to a male. So if you have a large on at home, you have to buy a smaller one to go with her. If you buy a large one, make sure the one you have at home is not already a female. Right guys? |
