| Give us a little more info about the system. Are you using ro/di. How often are you doing water changes. How are you exporting waste??? Algaefix and other products like that are just a band-aid to the problem. If you don't find the root of the prob you will battle this from here on out. |

| I have a seaclear system 2 see tank thread http://www.3reef.com/forums/show-off...ium-46587.html
It has a built in filtration system in the back with a filter pad, protien skimmer, bio-balls. I also have two koralia 2 powerheads which have alot of flow for my setup. Also there is about 70+ pounds of live rock. And I only use RO/DI water. Peramiters have been all good but yesterday I noticed a slight rise in Nitrite?
I think I know what caused the pronblem. It was one of my many newbie mistakes-----I was leaving my lights on for over 13 hours a day because I was so interested in watching everything move around. But I now know that was wrong.
The algae I have is a powder dust on the acrylic that if I wipe it of it comes back with in a few hours. On the rock there is what I call a neon green colored algae.
here are pictures. |

I figure it will take twice as long or longer to clear the algae as it took to create it. As you could see from the photos I have a lot of snails working hard but I think they too are out matched. It has gotten so bad my lawnmower blenny is turning green from all the algae eating.

You can always speed it up by cutting down on feeding and increase your WC's. If I where in your shoes, I would try to isolate the problem while you wait. Luna |

Roses and tomato's are both plants but to raise or kill them either way takes a different type of food or poison ..There may be other options and or cause or cure's even ? I sw 30 snails ? what kind and if you have more then a 20 gallon tank you don't have near enough of them. Where are the water parameters at ? Ca alk and such lighting type and bulbs age ? Water source and what type ? |
