What kind of anemone and do you have a picture?
Anemones expell waste once in a while depending on how much they have been fed...

Give it a chance to open up again... It is probably, as Jim stated, getting ready to regurgitate to rid itself of waste. After that it will open up again.
What kind of lighting do you have? When was the last time you changed the bulbs? Just curious as anemone's require moderate to intense lighting.
And are your water parameters in check?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !
Welcome to 3reef also!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!enjoy-and good luck!

Anemones will retract to rid of wastes like mentioned. Mine does it all the time, he will spend a couple of hours retracted, they will open up slowly. Does it atleast once a day.

They'll also retract when startled. My previous anemone would shrink to an unbelievably small size when a shrimp, crab or something else would poke at it.

Here it is, normally:

And here it is when startled:

Most invertebrates cannot tolerate high nitrates. Look into that.

Nitrates <10ppm are ideal for anemone's as well as most inverts!
