Default anemone question

okay I just got a gbta and I placed it in the spot where I thought it would be good. The anemone promptly settled in BUT he sunk his foot deep into a rock and is facing the back of the tank. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can get him out and turned around facing the front??????
The spot he is in makes it virtually impossible to feed him there......

You can't force an anemone to stay where you put it so once it settles in and finds a spot where it's happy, that's where it will stay. If you try to move it, it will simply "walk" away to a place where it's comfortable.

If you try to physically pry him off the rock, you will tear his foot. Leave him alone, sometimes they hide completely because they are scared, he will settle in, give him time.

You could have made a "bomie" for it so it can hide it's foot, then it'll be comfortable, that's what I did with mine, he's completely away from all my corals.

Dont worry, he will come around eventually. I did the same as rickzter, put a pile or little rocks around him and he feels right at home

If you just recently put him in he will more then likely move again. Mine moved several times, disappeared a few times and low and behold, he placed himself right at the top of the rock work facing foward in the center of the tank. I did move my lights foward on the tank for a few weeks in hopes that he would try move closer to them and maybe that is why he did place himself there, he wont say Good luck!

well he is in a really difficult spot. Impossible to feed him there and as it is under an overhang there is not as much light as other areas. Do you think he will move to get more light? Will food bring him out? I tried directing a powerhead at him hoping this would encourage him to move and all it did was blow sand so I am reluctant to try that. My only worry is that until he finds a good spot I hope he doesnt go near the powerheads. I covered my one intake with foam and the other two are SEIO's and I am not sure on the best method to cover them????

SEIO wow!, cool powerhead. I like. I can only answer from my experience. Yes I think it will move toward the light. I would suggest if you find him roaming the tank (unattached) place him where you would like him to be and shut down the flow for a few hours and if he hasnt had anything to eat in a while, offer him something then slowly turn on a power head at a time. I will be bold enough to say if you have him in the light in a crevice in the rockwork and dont blast him to hard right away that he will attach and stay put. Just my opinion tho. I have read where others dont suggest moving him. I call it coaxing him. This worked for my sister's bta. Good luck.

Let him settle in and once he moves to a spot where you can feed him easily, start feeding him every 2 day with chunks of food and he will stay put because the Gbta thinks thats a good spot and food is easily available. I waited a week and didn't try to feed my Bta because it was facing the back of the tank. it moved all over the tank until it got to the top of the rocks and hid its foot in a crevice and face the front of the tank. I started feeding it chunks of shrimp, so far it has not moved and its been a month now.

Good Luck with yours
