| Sorry for not updating sooner guys and gals. Surgery went well yesterday but it seems that Roger can't tolerate morphine based pain meds so he's been upchucking since he got out of surgery. They're planning on changing his meds today so hopefully, he can get a little more rest than he did last night. The fixator has been removed but the surgeon had to rebreak one of the bones to put in the plates and screws because the bone had healed in an "awkward" position so he's hurting alot more than when he originally fractured the bones. The surgeon says that he may be able to come home as soon as tomorrow so keep your fingers crossed! I'm home to shower and make a few phone calls then I'm headed on back. Thanks for all of your well wishes and I'll update you all again soon. |

| Seems that vomitting was preferable to the level of pain that Roger was experiencing today so he took his chances with the Dilatin (sp?) again. The man metabolizes meds so quickly that a dose that would get me royally messed up or dead doesn't even touch his pain. He has a HUGE tolerance for pain so when he was saying that his pain as at "15" today, I knew he was hurting bad. The nurse had to call in "pain management" because they couldn't give him anymore pain meds without authorization. The Pharm. Doc stopped by late this afternoon and added medication for nerve pain to his regimine. He was sleeping deeply when i left at 8:30 and since I didn't sleep worth a squat at the hospital last night, I'm crashing at home tonight to catch up. |
