| T-10 Lighting Just got in a set of new Sample T10's from U/V lighting company (the URI people who set the standards with any type tube lighting even some M/H's). They sent us a set of the New T 10's Quote: the New T10 Twist has 32% more surface glass which allows 20% more light output; Energy efficient technology; 90 watt VHO with Higher Lumen and Par values than the T12's.
I see that they are also making the T5's and PC's and anyone who knows lighting knows URI is the shiznit with their mixtures of Phosphors. But they have way more output than the T12 Setting over the next tank , I'll be using the T10s on our the actinic's at home. We got a Super Actinic 420 and the old Actinic white they are much more powerful then the T12's Just though I'd pass the info on seeing as all are looking for more light. I'll update everybody as the testing goes along _________ Some of the world's greatest feats were accomplished by people not smart enough to know they were impossible (Doug Larson)

| it makes perfect sense for the t10 to be better than the t12.the u.s. government just paid to refit all the fixtures in alaskas government buildings to save money in their soon to be bankrupt state.they refitted with thinner bulbs.more light, lower electric bills.

| What, other than circumference and pin configuration, is the difference between T12, T10, T8? The wattages may vary but other than that??? Why not just use the old T8's they sell as "starter" or fresh water bulbs? A higher watt & output would work the same wouldn't it? _________ Got Questions? Need Answers? R.I.P. | They are different in several ways internally the smaller tubes have a higher pressure they work under that is where they get more lights in that its a arching effect. Like if you have a garden hose and not nozzle then the water that comes out is actually more in volume. But you put the nozzle you use less water but you get it to blast further.. Thats how the current works in the tube along with the higher pressures and with the different cathodes an gases they get more light for less current. But the bulbs run hotter and burn out sooner or shift off as the overly worked phosphors can't l last |
