thats the thing, to each his/her own... i just dont like them. and i dont like the risk of them (however small or great it may be) getting in my main tank. i have a small tank and aptaisia would wreck my tank in a matter of weeks...
an apt. refuge sounds cool though! ive never heard of that!!!

It is a neat idea, just scary. 
Personally, I've got lots of tube worms living in the sump doing a similar job and they don't bug me when in the main tank. | |

Tube worms are also very beneficial in refugiums/tanks/sumps because they're great filter feeders as well | |
