| What would be your choice(Hair Algea) Just wanted some opinions of every-ones hair algae eating machines.
I know about the lawn mower blenny and the lettuce nudibrea, snails and tangs . But which are the best algae eating monsters???

| the best i ever saw was a seahare .that thing cleaned out my hair algae infested tank in a few days but then ran out of food.it started eating my greenstarpolyps which i hear is very rare so i had to give it back.

| Well I have a small amount of hair algae and I find that the astrea snails and scarlet hermits eat it but my nudibranch has touched it. _________ 20g

| Hair algae is the byproduct of other problems, You might want to cure the cause rather then treat to problem..Just my 2.ct worth.. Other then a properly sized clean up crew of snails and a few hermits there is not much need to do anything else in any tank I deal with now or in the past.. . _________ Some of the world's greatest feats were accomplished by people not smart enough to know they were impossible (Doug Larson) |

| urchins do eat coraline and can poke things with their spines but i guess thats not a problem in a bigger tank.their cool. |

| Well there's only a few major things that cause algae and it depends on the kind of algae you have. If it cyno then it's probably caused by excess nutrients as well as poor flow. Hair algae can be casued by excess nitrates, excess phosphates, or old lights...
I'd start by testing your water. That should tell the tale.... |
