| Wanted: Coralline Algae scrapings If any of ya'll are scraping your tank, I'd love it if you would send me some scrapings. I'll pay shipping! Please, please, please......I think that would add a lot to the tank and help the new rock I just got to cycle faster(In my head it will)....PM me and let me know if you can/will. I'll give you the address then. Let me know if you have paypal too, I will gladly pay thru there. I've used GARF Grunge before and I really didn't notice a difference. Actually, that's about when my tank started to change, now that I think about it.... Oh well that's another post! TIA!!!!!

| Linda,
Just raise up Ca and it should show up pretty fast. Elsewise I have heard that purple up stuff you can by will work wonders.... - never used but lots of good reports on here and elsewhere.
Exposure to air will kill coraline...just keep in mind.
Good Luck.

| Hey Omard! My CA is up at 480 today(finally). I've been trying to keep it there to get the coralline going and I've used a bottle and a half of Purple Up over the past year. I wonder when it'll kick in.... The rock I just got has small amount not a lot. Someone came in and bought almost all the good covered rock they had for a 180...wish it was me LOL |

| Once I switched to Red Sea Coral Salt, and got the Calcium top 450 and Magnesium to 1400, I started adding Purpleup and it just took off.
MAKE SURE to shake very well. It settles at the bottom. If you pour it and it is not thick, shake some more. PurpleUp 16oz: Aquarium Equipment and Supplies - Aqua Buys
I scrapped the old tank today, not much left when you are done scraping and washing, mostly a gooey mess.
I would try the PurpleUp if you want to Kick start the growth.
\Cheers

| Keep your Mg at 1400 to 1450 and Ca in the 400's and your dKH around 12 to 15 and the stuff will grow like crazy. You also need to burn your actinic longer, I run mine 16 hr a day and that crap is everywhere.
For the life of me I don't see what people see in it. They pay money for it and I cant stop it from growing on every thing. Almost like a pest!
If you want to seed for it, shut your pumps off and take one of your rocks that has coralline on it and a pair of pliers and break the stuff off in chunks and let it fall on your rock. Leave the pumps off for about 2 hrs and let the spores settle on the rock and it will take off like crazy....with proper parameters. _________ Scott 265g (Peninsula)
