Question anemone

Are you talking about this?:

I thought this was some type of coral or Polyps? My kinda LFS told me this was a coral my peppermint shrimp would nibble on. It grows quite fast and spreads all over. It hasn't been any real problem.!? Is this bad? Or are you talking about something else, if so what?

Thanks,
Zak

Yeah, they're bad. They are anemone majano and are a pest anemone like aiptasia. Unfortunately, peppermint shrimp don't touch them. Get some Joe's Juice or use some kalk paste to get rid of them asap.

I can get rid of them...but they are an anemone?? They do not move. They are more like polyps aren't they? I bought them especially for the shrimp...gerrr.

What is so bad about them? Except for spreading like cancer.

Thanks,
Zak

Unfortunately, I've got a ton of experience with those little buggers and what you have definitely looks like majano to me. They spread like cancer and will suffocate and/or sting your corals, most likely to death. Here's some more info and pics:

Tribbles, er... Anemonia Majanos
Majano Anemone

If you want to see more pictures, do a Google image search for "anemone majano".

Thumbs up nope

These are not anemone majano. I know what you are talking about now. I did have some in the past. I got rid of them with a syringe and lemon juice. These are not them. These are cool. Some type of coral.

Thanks,
Zak

Amcarrig,
Is this what you are are talking about?

How much should I add per gallon? Are you sure this is ok? Are the other ingredients bad? How much do you add? I cannot get my Mg level above 1100. Right now it is at most 900. When I get it to 1100 the mushrooms and other inverts don't like it? My mushrooms do not expand during the day. They stayed shriveled up. Now everything seems to be ok. My Calcium level is 360-380 and MG 900 max.

Yup, that's the stuff. I would add a half a cup at a time and test 24 hours after the addition. As for "other ingredients", the only ingredients should be magnesium sulfate. If the bag lists other ingredients, I would get a different brand.

The tank looks great by the way
