| Thats black slime, thats a good indicator your lights are on way too long. Turn your lights off for atleast 24hrs then cut your light period in half for a few days and it should go away on its on. _________ Got Questions? Need Answers? | If you dont have a lot of corals, I would leave them off for 2 days. Then cut back to like 5hrs a day. Until its gone anyways. Then increase it to something like 8-9hrs. It also depends on what type lights you have too and how old the bulbs are etc. |

| I dont usually see that slime unless somebody forgot to kick the lights off. 12+hr light period for a few days and it will show up in my tanks. Then I just kick the lights for a couple days (with numerous corals, various types) with no harm to anything other then the slime. |

| Theres your answer... As I said before, leave them off for a few days, and then cut back to like 5 hrs a day after that and slowly build up. Too much light too soon is what started it to grow. |

| Well this is weird, the chalk goby turns the stringy Black stuff over leaving a nice clean bed for most of the day, i go bed turn lights off, get up around 8ish still clean bed , no lights on in tank, then over 3 to 4 hours it creeps back (NO LIGHTS ON) after nothing on the snd to this in 3 or 4 hours...Here's a short clip... 052108142834.flv - Video - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
