| Yes the seaweed can add to the nitrates. On the back of the package it says remove all uneaten seaweed...probably for that reason. I have been battling a nitrate problem for 3 weeks now it was somewhere between 80+ now I have it down to 20. I actually hate the algae that developes from the nitrates. I got green algae on my glass and brown diatoms...which I hate. Do small water changes, monitor your nitrates while doing the water changes. Try to blow you LR from time to time as detritus can build up on the rock. _________ 20g

| Its an antibiotic and I used it on my reef when I had a red slime takeover and it worked wonders. Makes your skimmer have a heart attack, but other then that it had no ill effects on anything else in my tank whatsoever. The red slime was gone (and has stayed gone, been almost a year now) in just a couple days. Check it out. It's well worth it, IMO. |

| Well I hope that stuff works beacause I just purchased it. I've had the red slime problem for months. I've been blowing it of with a syringe and suking it out durring water changes but it keeps coming back. Thanks for the info!
