Default Is this out of control

My tank has been up and running for a little over three weeks now and was wondering if this is ok to have this much brown algae.

Par for the coarse. Might add a little more flow, butter otherwise normal. Could last 3 days to 4 weeks.

You can leave the lights off. Won't effect it to much. Take a (clean) turkey baster and blow it loose to get filtered out. It's just a diatom bloom, part of new tank syndrome.

Not bad.

It will pass. Every tank gets a couple of bouts of it when first starting out.

Will disappear completely as soon as you can move in some hermit crabs.

Tank looking good!!!!

It looks good! Really pretty with lots of hiding places. How do you have it secured? Any epoxy or zip-ties?

If you want a good clean up crew go to ReefCleaners.org - Home. Click on the "custom clean up crew" option and let John build you one. Give him your tank specs, eventual bio-load, how often you feed everything.

While you're at it, ask him about improving water quality and let him recommend some macroalgae. I love mine, it really adds some depth to my reef tank.
