| Need help Alright, been up and running for a month, all the levels check out fine. I've got my diatom algae that has gone from rust colored to a really dark blotchy mat on the sand and glass. I've got one blue damsel and two perculas right now. The damsel has done his part so he's heading back to the shop. Anyway, what would be a good addition that has a lot of personality, color and will help get rid of this stuff? |

| Are you sure it's not cyano? If so, add more flow, this will help. I added a Maxijet 1200 with the mod kit and it cleaned up my sandbed in a matter of days! Here is a recent thread if it is cyano... cyanobacteria
As for the tank addition, I'm going through the process of picking out my next fishie... I posted a thread looking for advice on my next addition and got lots of good responses/info. Here is the thread, check it out. Need fish advice!! Might want to wait another month or 2 to make sure the system is stable though... _________ 55 gallon slowly growing reef aquarium, 85 lbs. live rock, 2 1/2" sandbed, 1 False Percula Clown, 1 Sixline Wrasse, 1 Mandarin Goby, Tetratec PF500 filter, 2 110 watt URI Super Actinic VHO actinics, 2 250 watt metal halides with Reef Optix 2 reflectors powered by Blue Wave 3 ballast, born 1/3/08 My Tank Thread My Tank Video |

| Not really colorful or have much personality...but I think you need hermits, lots of hermits.
Get a sand vacuum and suck up as much as you can...increase frequency and size of water changes for while.
It will not stay around long.
Good luck. _________ AG "125," AquaC EV 180, 30 gal sump, "SCWD", 80 lbs LR, CoralSeaLife "Moonlite" Hood, PFO 250W HQI Mini-Pendant (SPS HQI 14000k bulb)

| At a month old, you really shouldn't be adding anymore fish. I cycle my tanks for 12 weeks with one fish and only then do I more fish and then, only one at a time with several weeks between fish additions. If you add more fish right now, your algae problems are only going to get worse. Let the tank ride the cycle out and add some snails and such to help with your algae problem. |
