It works pretty fast. Fill the jug up with hot water and vinegar.....then if you need to , roll the hose between your fingers to break up any obvious chunks. It shouldn't be too bad to get moving again.  _________  I Love My Sig By John Hawkins!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i just checked an i'm out of vinegar. what about some lemon juice. it's also acidic. | |

No, you don't need the whole thing of vinegar. I use about a quarter cup to gallon of water.
I don't know about the lemon juice......I don't really see a problem but..lemon juice may have oils in it that don't rinse easily..but .....hmmmm...
anyone else???

OK, got the kit today finally!! heres my results :
temp 78-79
Ammonia 0
PH 8.4
Nitrite 0
Calcium 350
nitrate --off the color scale. Did test 3 times. dont understand this. All looks well. But my skimmer has been unplugged for 2 days. Can this be why?
added Iodine and Calcium / ph buffer.
well retest again tomorrow and maybe make a long visit to my favorite LFS on the otherside of Egypt....
of course the close LFS are idiots....
anyways thanks for all the help..still haven't seen the Xenia do the pulse thing, but they look good otherwise...
hope to post some photos in the next day or so...

Do you check alkalinity? That is an important one as well. Magnesium is related to the whole, Cal, Alk, pH equation.
Also, what is your specific gravity?
Sorry for all the questions. Your calcium is a little low but not bad...I have had mine there and gotten good coralline growth. I am trying to keep my Calcium around 400-425.
Your pH is a bit on the high end , but not unreasonably so. I am going to guess that your alkalinity may be low? Maybe Magnesium as well. | |
