Encrusting algae ?s

I got some decent LR about 3 weeks back (to cycle my tank). It had/has some decent coraline on it, not completely covered but enough spores to start a colony i guess.

There was a section of green coraline that was about a square inch....now it fell off and it is about 1/2"...

My calcium levels are a little under "optimal" i'd have to test again to give you a #. The lights were off for about 3 weeks, and are now on timers. Is this some kind of 'disease' or is this some natural dieoff

edit - I have almost every Salifert test kit but I'm at work...so if you want me to test params, itll have to wait until 5-6ish

Sounds like natural die off to me. I wouldn't be concerned unless your water levels were way off.
