Default Dino!? Please help!

In just the last hour or so I have noticed what used to be my diatoms are now developing little balls and they are starting to float.

How can i get rid of this before it becomes a big problem? I had them in my QT and they always just seemed to come back within a few hours of scrubbing them off.

Feed the fish and go lights out for a few days?

About every 30 minutes to an hour it looks like the stuff doubles.

dino's are truly a nasty algae- one that I have never experienced. However, in my reading and research on them- I have seen many people tear down their tanks because of it. Many theories exist on how to rid your tank of them (increasing pH would be one of them)- some people report moderate success, while others find that nothing seems to work.

First things first however, Let's get a picture of the tank. Ive seen blue-green cyano that takes on the look of dino's quite well! Let's pray for the possibility of that!

1. Are you using RO/DI water?

2. If so what's your TDS from the RO/DI water?
When I had them I noticed it was worse after a water change and my filters were starting to get old. Once the silicate was absorbed they would die down.

3. Are you running a phosban reactor? If not get one.

1. No
2. See above
3. Coming soon

As of right now i feel comfortable saying that maybe i jumped to a conclusion. Could be diatoms still but they do have little balls that moved with the current. Overall though i didnt see many with balls, just the ones on the sides of the tank. I cant get a clear enough pic of them.

if you have a source of micro bubbles in the tank they can and will collect on algae on the glass... happens to me every time i do a WC or turn off the return pump and restart it....

I had some of it as well. it travelled from the left to the right side of my 90 gal. I did nothing special and it went away on its own. I did read however you shouldnt do water changes. JMO

Also got a phosban and it didnt help. I also had RO/DI water....
