Coralline is well on its way

I just got back from a week vacation on the west coast only to find a huge bloom of Coralline algae. Imagine my excitement when the two powerheads, the overflow encasement, and the entire back of the tank encrusted with purple and pink coralline. Maybe I should go on another vacation...The old adatage, "a watched pot never boils" is certainly appropriate here.

I usually just scrape it off the front and sides. I like that " Purple " background effect lol

at my LFS theres a tank with the back completley covered I saw that before I began my tank and I wanted my tank to look like that so bad and its just about there I think coraline algea is so beautiful and I let it grow on my side walls and back wall.

The banck of the tank is really starting to fill in with coralline. Both of the powerheads and the overflow are covered as well. I really like the effect as well, plus the benefit of cutting down on other nuisance algae...

This is going to sound completely wrong but trust me on this. If you want it to spread faster as well as get more on your rock, scrape the coralline in places where it's hidden from the front view. This will spread the spores in the current to land other places and grow there.

Good point, Curt. I actually did begin with scraping some from rock that was encrusted to seed the tank...
