| If your coralline algae is white(bleached), then it is dead! I believe that it grows in green but definitely purples, reds, pinks and various shades of those colors. Much has to do with the lighting and water flow to determine growth and color! _________ 125gal.w/Mag9.5 return(dual megaflow)>Mag7 pump Aqua Cev180skimmer.Wave2k Hamilton Reefstar(2)250watthqi(mh)pend.a Yellow, Naso Tang Red Lip Blenny Percula Clown Demoiselles Niger Trigger F. | That's a good point about lighting and water flow, but I swear I had healthy white coraline before encrusting on rocks. Perhaps I mistaken. No biggie. |

| So the little white dots I see on my rear glass are small "dead" spots of coraline algae? |

| Possibly. It's hard to say. If your maintenance has remained the same and you are keeping up on your alk and mag I would just keep an eye on it. Otherwise check out some of the similar threads at the bottom of the page like: Trying to get coraline algae |

| Ive had white coraline algae growing before, also red, pink, purple, green, grey, yellow and even blue. Coraline is a primitive form of deepwater SPS corals. It comes in all the same colors sps comes in. _________ "Zoanthid, Notice that this word contains only a single "o." A zoo is a place where animals are kept on display, whereas zo-(rhymes with toe) is a prefix meaning "animal." This is a simple point, but I can't overstate how it grates on the ears of folks who know better. My advice in any endeavor would be to know the correct pronunciations of its words; otherwise we seem less-informed than we truly are." Renaming Our Corals |
