| Caulerpa in your tanks Do any of you reefers grow caulerpa in your main tanks or just your refugiums?
Contemplating growing some in my main tank and my refugium. Worried about it going sexual in my main tank though. My refugium is on reverse daylight so not worried about it in there. _________ 125gal.w/Mag9.5 return(dual megaflow)>Mag7 pump Aqua Cev180skimmer.Wave2k Hamilton Reefstar(2)250watthqi(mh)pend.a Yellow, Naso Tang Red Lip Blenny Percula Clown Demoiselles Niger Trigger F. | Well it wouldent be that bad if you have a tang! It would be like a constant supply of food for them, especially since they like to graze all day long!

| Yeah however, I don't think Tangs like that Caulerpa...maybe I'm wrong but Caulerpa is poisonous to many reef inhabitants if they consume it! I remember reading that in a book! |

| Its not a good idea as it will over run the tanks sometimes if the correct conditions are present and the correct fish are not.. I have seen the grape take over a few tanks form a 55 to 200 gallon the stuff was everywhere.Nita a good idea there are some nicer plants you could plant if you wanted but not Caulerpa's
We where just discussing this problem yesterday at a area school that has a aqua culturing center the stuff was out of control in some grow out tables .It came in on a frag plug

| You already know my thoughts on it... Once you have it, you'll never fully get rid of it...
My Tang never touched it. It was one of those things that just showed up one day, I figured I would get a tang and they would take care of it, I was WRONG. The same goes for Halimeda, No fish will eat it, Its not called turtle grass for no reason. Sea turtles love it, lol. |
