Default Brown algae...I think

I think its algae but I don't know. I keep getting this brown "stuff" on my glass. I'll scrape it off, but can start to see it again the following day. When I do scrape it off, its almost powder-like the way it floats away. Not like regular green algae that tends to stay together. Any idea what it may be?

I just put it on a timer last week or so....I guess I'll put it back.
What are the side effects of diatoms?

the Side effect are just more diatoms. It is often very hard to get rid of and spreads very quickly
