Default Black Hair
I have some black hair algea growing on my powerhead, skimmer intake foam and sand any one have a clue what it might be and how can I get rid of it

how are your phosphates and nitrates they are the ones that feed algae . imo ..

my phosphate and nitrate levels are fine I have also been leaving my light off more often

what about youre lighting how old are the bulbs / tubes . old tubes can bloom algae!!

what kind of lighting is it? most people recommend 8-10mo on PCs and about 8mo on MH
