| algae? heres a good one for ya, excluding the refugium, do we want any algae in a reef tank?

I would think that a certain amount of diatoms (aka phytoplankton) are necessary in that they feed the micro fauna and some corals. |

| phyto isnt algae, there animals. algae is plant life. we dont want diatom. so is there any algae we do want? other than that mentioned already |

| Nope, phytoplankton are plants and diatoms make up a large portion of phyto. Phytoplankton: Plants of the Sea
Zooplankton, on the other hand, consist of "animals" |

| there is no such thing as a good algae in a reef display tank aside from coraline.its fine in any other kind of sw tank.
