The anti-bacterial soap deal. In regards to your plan, I can only give my opinion on a couple of things. I do use live rock in my sump(I'd replace the wheel). I don't use filter socks, sponges or, the sort in my system. More flow is probably a good idea. Not sure about tearing down the wall though. Can you post any pics.? Don't really know feeding habits and inhabitants or, what type of salt mix you are using. What are your nitrate readings? How old is you R/O unit? I've got 2 dead spots in my tank that look like a nitrate factory(literally). Can you make a portion of your sump into a fuge or, add macro somewhere to your system? If this didn't help I'm sure this bump might help you out a bit. I'd find out why your nitrates are high before going nuts on water changes. It may save you some money.
