Try to combat that urge to buy any kind of supplements, which some work and others just humbug (and may be harmful to tank)

They tend only to get water params out of balance which can be very difficult to remedy.

Try to stick with proven standard foods, and maybe include some you have made yourself. (See: "Variety is the spice of life...")

Trust your salt mix and regular water changes to provide everything you need. Add some Ca supplement if you feel you need it. Avoid the rest.

All that great advertising is mostly just bunk and is designed to separate new reefers from their $. (which you should be saving for next rare/exotic fish/coral)


(note: after saying above, there is probably few here who don't have a gaggle of bottles of all kinds of weird stuff sitting in box in closet or out in garage...)
