I personally dont skim as i only have a 30 gallon and no sump, and i think skimmers are big ugly and noisy, and without a secret tank and cupboard to hide it i would end up throwing it in the canal that runs just below my balcony.

But if you have a sump go for it. Go for one that exceeds that cap of your tank
