I caught mine w/ a net, but they were very hard to catch. I actually was swooping for a bigger one and didn't even know i caught him until half way back to shore, don't know how he stayed in the net. I've been looking into slurp guns supposedly they're much more effective and much less stressful on the fish. A descent one runs about $50.
