The nitrates being at around 40ppm is dangerous for inverts like anemones. I would get that down as soon as possible.

Btw, after a system crash, corals (especially things like mushrooms, sponges, polyps) that do survive, can keep excreting toxins into the system for some time. New corals can/will do the same thing as well.

How's your skimmer running? And are you running any kind of chemical filtration?
