broken pump; replacement pump for wet/dry? I am a noob, in personal uncharted territory. Bear with me. I hit a road block in setting up my new tank.
Well, as the world turns/spins out of controll sort of speak, in cleaning the wet/dry that was giving to me(yey) I noticed a crack across the bottom of the OLD pump(booo). I started it up and it was frozen. Finally got it spinning(yay again!!!), but it does not seem to move any water out of the wet/dry. It would trickle out quite slowly, I would guess 3gph. Maybe it is supposed to be that slow, since I have never seen one? but I got the feeling it was far too slow, the damn pump wieghs like 12lbs. The water wheel thingy spins quite fast though, so no clue.
So to clarify,
Am I correct in assuming its should be easily pushing water out of the of the filter?
Also, I am not sure I am going to use this wet/dry filter(may sell it) One factor would be me trying to figure out a pump that would push enough water up 4-5ft for cheap, as some of em seem quite expensive. how many gph would I need... a maxi-jet or azoo work? What sort of formula am I looking at here? pipe diameter make a differece?
thanks,
