ATTENTION ALL MY STUFF IS FOR SALE : I'M MOVING ASAP TO AUSTIN TEXAS AND STUFF CAN'T GO WITH ME
Ok so I decided to move up in the saltwater world from my 30 gallon nano to a 75g rr tank.... some of these pictures were taken before and after eacher other progress wise so its kinda mixed up, but I will get more up of the transfer and water in it when my RO/DI unit comes in..........and here is my tank build thus far:
The Tank :
AGA Ultimate RR 75g megaflow
- 2% Super Black Limo Tint on back
AGA Solid Wood Black Stand
The Sump:
AGA 20g high soon to be whatever bigger tank i can squeeze in below/ and pvc plumbed
Return Pump:
Mag Drive 7
The Skimmer:
Euro-Reef RS135 New Body w/ Custom Modded Sedra 5000
Flow:
(1) Tunze 6045
(2) Hydor Koralia 4's
Lighting:
8x54 Watt T5 w/ Individual Reflectors
For water I am using a 150 GPD RO/DIx2 Unit (that i am waiting on in mail)
Need to do still/want to do:
- Hard plumb return pump and drain into sump instead of hoses
- Installl bigger tank for sump
- Get tank up and running and other tank transfered into it.
Ok update: 3/25/08:
Sump Build
Details: 20L with simple over, under, over bubble trap, refugium.
It looks kinda small but its because i used a 50mm portrait lens on it... its actually kinda roomy, simple over, under, over bubble trap, then theres like a 1.5" x 8" refuge where ill put my chaeto, and couple pieces of LR, maybe some sand, not sure about that though, refuge shares itself with pump but theres a 4" high divider in there to keep pump away from chaeto/snails, theres also going to be some eggcrate about that 4" piece for a wall that flows water through but keeps inhabitants out of pump...(pic doesn't show eggcrate but roomates decided me using a jigsaw at 11pm was not a good idea indoors)... I will get one up later tomorrow of it installed hopefully.
Supplies:
2 rolls of 10' epdm rubber - Home Depot $ 15.00
2'x4' Acrylic sheet - Home Depot $ 32.00
2'x5' light diffuser sheet - Home Depot $ 10.00
You could probably do it with the smaller sheet of acrylic that HD offers, I have a ton left, but I can use it for future experiments.
To make a long story short, I cut the acrylic to the sizes I needed, stuck the epdm rubber on the edges and bottoms to make a waterproof wall/dividers, placed them in the tank, if you use some water in a spray bottle to lube the sides of tank before trying to wedge the dividers in it works very nicely, otherwise its a P.I.T.A., I made sure i cut them correct to avoid bowing the sides of tank as well.
I cut the dividers the height of the water my skimmer recommended to sit in, and the last wall of bubble trap i made a 1/2" lower than first wall so water can spill over into it, and be pumped back into tank via mag drive.
If you would like measurements, or have any questions pm me.
FYI: This is not my design and I do not take credit for it, I just modified it a bit to my liking
I got most of my info from here:

UPDATE: 3/28/08- 6 stage RO/DIx2 150gpd Unit came in today... threw out first 5 gallons of water, and I know have a 36 gallon brute force garbage can filling up... I am running an adaptor fitting of my washer feed line ( I don't like the setup now, and I am pretty sure I am going to install it under my sink and use the vampire tap on the feed line in there.... but for now.. its mounted in utility room and draining in the washer's p trap. Tested finished water.. 0ppm.... very niiiiiiice.
