They work, but for the $$ there are better skimmers out there. some people really have trouble dialing them in, others work perfect out of the box. A good friend of mine had a difficult time getting it to perform when nutrient levels were lower...not that there wasnt anything to take it, but it struggled.
For a small footprint look at the ATI BM160 and the new MSX/Octo line....both utilize a sicce meshwheel and will inject more air for it's size than anything else currently available.
Are external skimmers an option? I used a DAS EX-1 on my old 125 reef and would highly suggest looking into them if you're not limited by it's dimensions. If you can afford it an EX-2, would be even better. |
