My son said I'd be posting shortly..it just took me awhile to figure out how to do it. I'm just starting with a 45 gallon tall tank...I'd like a beautiful reef tank with as much coral as I can have. (and a Nemo and Dory for one grandson..and other TBD).

I have 65# of live rock (40# from somebody in SF who was going out of business and 25# from somebody in Omaha taking down their tank). I'm not sure how much of it is actually "live" other than being in somebody's tank before. I also have 20#'s of LS from PetSmart and another 20# of regular sand. I just got the tank set up last Sunday and tested the water last night.
Ammonia - 0
Nitrite -0
Nitrate - 5
pH - 8.8 ( used 30 g of RO water to start along with about 5 or 8 gallons of seed water from some of the LR).

Not sure if my tank has/is cycling or what's happening yet with the above reading....
