donno why but here in italy we usually overstimate skimmer.. so for a 500 liter tank we usually get a 1000 liter skimmer.. etc.. for a 1200 liter tank (like mine) they suggest me a 2500 liter skimmer.. this is why i thought about the XL2 or XL3.. they are 2x and 3x my tank.. like we are used here
but maybe in USA the info about the skimmer water managed are a bit more realistic then here..
we usually overskim to add again what we miss.. as we do 1 water change of 5% weekly or a 15% monthly.. and we add weekly what we remove (iodine, iron, etc etc..)
different philosiphy i think.. but i suppose your works well too
