I got the 1" pipe in there now, about 4 or 5" down into the tank and drilled random 3/16" holes all through it. I had to put a filter sleeve (found one at the lfs) over it, secured by a twist-tie, to reduce the bubbling. There is still a big problem with micro bubbles shooting out between the pump housing and pump inlet. I took out the o-ring, lubed it w/ a little vaseline and re-installed it. The leaking micro bubble jet stream is as bad or worse than before. I'll have to call ESU/Coralife tomorrow to have them send me a new pump, o-ring and pump inlet that won't leak.
I'm really considering a sump, but don't have much room under the aquarium. what is the min size sump i can do for a 55 gal, and how much space would it take up? What would I be looking at cost-wise? thanks. |
