I just spent $50 on a 3" piece of rock with about a 2" colony of White Xenia. I hope it will take off and grow well. So far it has stayed retracted and has not opened up. I aclimated it by drip for over two hours. This is my first piece of Xenia. Does anyone have any pointers?

Iodine supplement, good water flow, 75-80 degree temp. and moderate lighting should allow you to be successful and it will in fact grow like crazy! I started off with a 3"Xenia that was attached to an Acropora Frag. Well, I now own about 20 Xenia colonies and they have grown and encompassed the whole left side of my 125gallon reef tank!

You should do fine!
