Few different flood stories. On vacation last year, (still haven't figured out how yet) Two pipes come apart onmy return very bad very messy. A month ago the back siphon from my RDSB filled my sump during a power outage. When power returned the overflow from my rdsb didn't drain fast enough had a small flood to the tune of about 7 gallons. These were the two I have had in about 6 years. Nothing I couldnt fix.

These are great! Keep them coming!

Mine is pretty boring next to JohnO's explosions but, needless to say, I always clamp hoses on when filling tanks now!

I love that last phase of carpet drying that makes your whole house smell like mildew!

Here is a fun one. I was doing a water change on my midas's tank. I had a undersink carbon filter to make up water and I was running it straight into the tank. It was slow.... I was busy..... and hungry. It ran at like 4 GPH and it needed to make like 10 more gallons. Everything was secure and I decided to go to Taco Bell to get something to eat. It was like 4 blocks from my house "I'll be back in plenty of time." Somewhere in those 4 blocks I forgot what I was doing completely and decided to go to the supermarket. Well I went about my business getting my food and got home still completely forgetting what I was doing. Open my side door that leads up to the kitchen and down to the basement to the sound of splashing water. The light bulb in my head when off. OH CRAP. The tank had over flowed ran over the side down the stand across the floor to the low point in the floor. That low point was my furnace vent. The water ran thru the vent and leaked out thru the duct work dripping to the basement floor and into the drain.
I somehow got off scott free from doing something that scatter brained!

My 75 gal reef tank sits on a breakfast bar and my sump is below it. My Mag 7(in the sump) decided to quit working so I unhooked the venturi hose to the overflow and set the tank up to run sump-less until I got a new pump. My girlfriend calls me at work the next day freaking out. So I race home and when I got there the kitchen was flooded with 5 gal of water and another 5 - 10 had leaked into the basement and down into the heater vent. Turns out that I forgot to unplug the Mag and it started up again without the overflow working causing the whole flood. I guess you live and learn huh.

Only about a 1000 gallons of top off water in the holding tubs constantly being forgotten about while making water. $15 dollar float? Nah getting the cold shoulder from the wife and 2 hours mopping the basement is better. Leaky hang on the back over flow on a new 125 Bad seam about 1/2 inch below the water line took a week to find. Again angry wife. Mis-adjusted protien skimmer over flowed the catch container 3 x in a week. New hardwood needed- Really angry wife. Lets not for get the "pressfit" return trial on spray bar that ran great about 10 minutes but when turned around and change the baby's diaper POP mag 1200 pumping water all over the place! Try reaching under the cabinet and unplugging stuff in a saltwater rain shower. Just a few not to mention the customers accidents

_________

Starting over with a 210 RR from All Glass, Lifereef Berlin sump, skimmer (installed) and calcium reactor (ordered). Aquatraders Catalina 72" 3x400 mh 10 k/4x96 watt blue PC, Closed Loop with Little Giant 4MDQX-SC and 2- 3/4 Seaswirls.

I woke up this morning to a 1000gph+ return pump tossing water out of my sump. Prolly about 20 gal of water on my living room floor, carpet. It is my own fault b/c I broke the bulkhead off my return pump and thought JB Weld would hold it securely, boy was I wrong.

Live and learn, you got that right.

When I used to own my pet store in the late 90's, we would flood at least a couple times a week... I remember cruising about the shop taking care of daily duties and then ...splash... stepping into a puddle of water... Oh crud, left the water on again. Run back to the back, shut water off, get the mops open doors, turn on fans. LOL.... I miss the good old days...

Worst flood ever is when the back of the 240 gallon show tank exploded and all the contents flew onto the floor. Sounded like someone had shot off a canon in the house. My neighbor heard it. Ahh well... fun times. GLTA
